Austin’s new Northeast middle school, located in the Mueller neighborhood, receives a new name: Dr. General Garwood Marshall Middle School. The late Dr. Marshall was “a prominent member of Austin’s Black community and a former professor of mathematics at Huston-Tillotson University.” (Drabicky) Dr. Marshall continued to teach mathematics and mentor students post-retirement, leaving a legacy of community love and service.
