There is an increasing desire among many of us to reconnect with others in deeper, closer and more localized communities. We no longer want to disappear into our garages, never to utter a word to our neighbors. There is a movement to strive for something better, inclusive, and more sustainable. An urban community living movement that has started in Austin with the Mueller Development.
What is urban community living?
Urban community living is the concept of establishing an intentional community of residents who enjoy their living space and want to be a part of a community. Focusing on all aspects of life, both business and leisure, intentional communities are pioneers in sustainable living. They are designed to be walkable, energy efficient, and water-wise.
A better living experience at Mueller Austin:
Located just three miles from downtown Austin and the Texas State Capitol and two miles from The University of Texas at Austin, Mueller is a walkable, sustainable community in the center of it all. The new Mueller HEB, restaurants, food trucks, a shopping center, banking, Dell Children’s Hospital, and the new, very cool children’s museum, The Thinkery, are all within walking distance of the Mueller development.
To sustain a sense of community, Mueller hosts year-round events and partnerships, which cater to the interests of the people who live in the development. These events are meant to focus not just on bringing residents together for entertainment, but rather to stimulate specific communities’ passions, and offer likeminded individuals the opportunity to work together or enjoy the things they love. Mueller hosts several events throughout the year for a variety of organizations. From nonprofit fundraising races like the Ronald McDonald House’s Lights of Love to free, family-friendly fun like Mueller’s annual Movies in Your Park. Mueller is also home to the Mueller Farmers’ Market held every Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. under the historic Browning Hangar in Mueller Lake Park.
The overall idea of this modern eco-system is to offer something more than the typical neighborhood experience where residents simply come and go, and to create a living experience that goes beyond physical amenities. Mueller is taking planned communities into the future where modern style and a vibrant social scene merge with neighborhoods and parks.
