Italian eatery L’Oca D’Oro has raised its distinctive neon goose at Mueller Austin. The new Mueller restaurant, next door to Bribery Bakery and The Thinkery, signals more unique, locally focused business at the Town Center.
The restaurant will make nearly everything in house, including their bread, pasta, cheese, salumi, vinegar, and liqueur. Co-owner and GM Adam Orman and chef/owner Fiore Tedesco say their goal in creating the L’Oca D’Oro was to bring that level of attention and care into the context of an approachable, family-friendly neighborhood restaurant.
The details run deep. “We mill our grains daily for all our homemade pasta, giving them a lightness and vibrancy that you usually don’t see.” In addition, L’Oca D’Oro does their own preserving, removing the need for any canned products, and built their own custom wood grill to impart complex, smoky flavors. Tedesco’s description of the dishes has our attention. “The porchetta, rolled pork belly with fennel seed, red pepper, and orange zest, will be a family-style favorite.”
Even ahead of opening, Mueller is a perfect match for L’Oca D’Oro. “We love the way this neighborhood has already
accepted us at the farmer’s market and at AMLI events and in conversations in front of the restaurant. We love the prospect of collaborating with Thinkery, Dell Children’s and Ronald McDonald House – all groups with which we already have relationships. This gives us an opportunity to be a positive influence in a model neighborhood,” says Orman.
Orman and Tedesco have already held several cooking workshops at the Thinkery, which helped them develop the children’s menu at L’Oca D’Oro. More gardening and cooking classes are planned for the near future.
